Part 2 of 3: Making the Most of Your Small Business’ Technology

For part two of this three-part series, we will bring you more tips to do more with less, saving you and your business time and money:

Part Two: How to Block Calls on Your Smartphone

We’ve all been there, our smartphone rings and we feel obligated to answer or at the very least drop what we’re doing to see whose calling. Especially during business hours, spam callers (those unrelenting telemarketers that peddle their often irrelevant services) are distracting and can get very frustrating. Follow these steps to eliminate distractions:

  1. Download the free Group Ringtone app from the Google Play Store if you are using an Android smartphone
  2. Group your contacts how you’d like, but have at least one group dedicated to a list of callers you deem to be spam. You can call this group something along the lines of “Spam” or “ZZZ-Spam.”
  3. Assign their ringtone to “Silent”
TIP: By adding a “ZZZ” to the beginning of the group name, it sends your spammers to the bottom of your group list. Out of sight, out of mind!

Note for BlackBerry or iPhone users:
Using the ringtone settings on a BlackBerry, a similar result can be achieved. On the iPhone, there are apps much like Group Ringtone in the Apple App Store.

So there you have it, another way to do more for your business using technology you already have (if you missed the first post of the series, check out Part One: How Can I Make my TV a Smart TV?).
